The weather was cloudy when we started this morning, but didn’t stay that way for long. We got right through lock #16 & #17, only a 6″ drop and we floated in both. They were the fasted locks I’ve ever been through. The river is getting very dirty, due to high water and abundance of rain we have had.
We navigated 98 miles today, more than planned, as the marinas in Fort Madison, Iowa were unsafe to enter with our size boat. This make for a long day of traveling.
We stayed at Keokuk Yacht club a very nice and friendly place with many amenities. We filled the boat with fresh water, and I did laundry you have to take advantage of it when you can.
Joe Quick, a GE coworker, met us at the club house for a nice visit and later a tour of our boat.
