Tuesday morning we left our anchorage at 7:00. The weather is cloudy and raining again off and on. Kent has driven more in the rain the past few days then he ever has boating.
We are now heading up the Cumberland River to Green Turtle Bay. The river is very narrow and winding, but very beautiful.
As we were driving we saw this huge White House I had to take a picture of it.
The first lock on the Cumberland River is Barkley lock and dam. It’s 57 ft and has a bollard. Yes all the fenders are down and were ready to go and it’s raining. I get to try out my new rain jacket. I am still dry it worked.
We are now in Green Turtle Bay, Grand Rivers, Kentucky. We stayed in this marina 14 yrs ago when we brought our boat back to Frentress. When we arrived on Tuesday we were greeted by Lee and Boomer. It was nice to see them again.
Dave and Janice’s are leaving their boat here and going home for a month or two. They will resume traveling the loop when they return. It has been a pleasure traveling with them and we wish them good luck. I am sure we will run into them again in Florida.
We were privilege to go aboard Ron and Carols boat the Annie named after Ron’s mother. Ron built this wooden boat it took him 16 yrs to complete and it’s breathtaking. They launched her in 2005.
These are some pictures of the interior and Ron did all the work himself. The chest on the main deck is his tool box.
We will be staying her at Green Turtle for a few days. We need some down time and groceries (only fresh vegetables) and do laundry.
I want to wish our friends Linda and Paul a Happy Wedding Anniversary they have been married Two yrs.
