On December 23 John and Pam Short were in Fort Myers and we had lunch with them at Pinchers. We have known them for a long time, they had a house boat at Frentress Marina our home port. They have since sold their home in Il., house boat at Frentress, and are now what is called “live aboard ” on their 44 foot Defever Yacht. John & Pam (SHORT VACATION) are also doing the loop they have no time limit.
We were so lucky to have John and Pam spend New Year’s Eve night with us and they stay over night on our boat. It was also John’s Birthday so I got cake and ice cream for him.
We invited Kent and Jane from”Rishing Tides” to join us all for dock tails. Their boat is behind us they have a 36ft PDQCat. They are gold loopers and finished the loop in 2013.
We had John’s birthday dinner on the boat. Kent grilled steaks John’s favorite, for us all. They were so tender and juicy.
We all walked downtown to be part of the celebrations that was going on. Downtown countdown the huge outdoor party featured live bands, and vendors. We even met people who were from Dubuque, Ia, they were visiting friends in Fort Myers.
We walked around and drank beer as we listened to the different bands. We did find one the wasn’t to bad to listen to.
They dropped the ball and had fireworks over the river at midnight. The last warm New Years Eve we had was in Brazil with Rachel (our foreign exchange student) and her mom Marcia. We had a great time bringing in the New Year with our boating friends John and Pam.
The next morning we all walked about 5 blocks to the Oasis Restaurant for breakfast and then John and Pam went back to their boat in Labell.
