Saturday morning in Dubuque Ice harbor I washed the boat as Amy cooked breakfast. We left with a clean boat and will return with a clean boat. We can’t return to our slip until 1 today as kids have a welcome home party planned.
We left the marina in Dubuque around 11 and slowly navigated down river to Frentress our home port. My emotions are all over the place. Yes, it will be nice to see all our friends and family, however it also means our great journey is over.
When Kent and I started this journey we agreed no drinking alcohol while the boat is underway. We abided by that rule until today I need a drink or should say want a drink.
We headed for the marina to celebrate our return with friends and family. It was nice to see them all. Kent said that the smallest slip we had the entire trip was the one we have at Frentress. He docked the boat perfect and were welcomed home by our family and friends.
Our trip of a life time is over but the memories and wonderful people we met during our journey, will last forever.
When we woke up on Sunday in our slip it all seemed like a dream. Nothing had changed except Kent and I.
Thank you all for taking this journey with us.
